This article is about the WWE Rey Mysterio Wrestler.
Rey Mysterio, born Óscar Gutiérrez Rubio on December 11, 1974, is a Mexican-American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and performs on the SmackDown brand. Rey Mysterio was trained by his uncle Rey Misterio, Sr. and began his wrestling career in Mexico, where he mastered the high flying Lucha Libre style that he is known for. Despite his weight of only 175 lb (79 kg), Mysterio has achieved great success in both the heavyweight and cruiserweight weightclasses, as well as in tag team competition. Prior to joining WWE in 2002, he worked for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) in Mexico from 1992 to 1995, Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) from 1995 to 1996, and World Championship Wrestling from 1996 to 2001.
Mysterio played a significant role in revolutionizing cruiserweight wrestling in the United States during his time in WCW, thanks to his high flying style. He won the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship five times, the WCW World Tag Team Championship three times, and the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship once as part of the Filthy Animals alongside Billy Kidman (they were the only Cruiserweight Tag Team Champs before WCW closed). In WWE, Mysterio has had an impressive career, winning the WWE Championship once, the World Heavyweight Championship twice, the WWE World Cruiserweight Championship three times, the WWE Tag Team Championship four times, and the WWE Intercontinental Championship twice. This makes him the 21st person to achieve the Triple Crown Championship. Additionally, Mysterio emerged as the winner of the 2006 Royal Rumble.

4. “Booyaka” by Mad One and Rey Mysterio
5. “Booyaka 619” by P.O.D. (This version was later made more personal as he collaborated with the Christian nu metal band P.O.D., also from San Diego, California, to create a new version of “Booyaka” entitled “Booyaka 619”, which P.O.D. performed live at WrestleMania 22. The studio version is included on the Wreckless Intent album, however, while used as an entrance theme, the intro was replaced with that of the original “Booyaka”. Since Mysterio’s return from injury, the introduction from the original “Booyaka” has been removed, and the P.O.D. introduction is played instead for Mysterio’s entrance.)
WWE made an exciting announcement on March 10th, revealing that Mysterio will be joining the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023. During the March 24th episode of SmackDown, with the Mysterio family present, Mysterio unfortunately lost to LA Knight due to Dominik’s interference. Dominik then proceeded to provoke and taunt the Mysterio family, even going as far as telling his mom to be quiet. This led to Rey finally taking action and striking Dominik, resulting in an official match between Rey and Dominik at WrestleMania.
The Latino World Order (2023–present)
On the March 31 episode of SmackDown, just before his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame later that day, Rey surprised everyone by reviving the Latino World Order. He gifted LWO shirts to Legado Del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Zelina Vega, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro) as a token of gratitude for their support against The Judgment Day in the previous weeks. Moving on to April 1, during the first night of WrestleMania 39, Rey managed to defeat Dominik with the assistance of Bad Bunny. Fast forward to the August 11 episode of SmackDown, Mysterio triumphed over Austin Theory to claim his third WWE United States Championship. This victory came about because Mysterio replaced his injured LWO teammate, Santos Escobar. Interestingly, Mysterio became only the second WWE Superstar to win the United States Championship after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, following in the footsteps of Bret Hart. In a subsequent rematch at Payback, Mysterio successfully defended his title against Theory. Then, on the September 29 episode of SmackDown, Mysterio faced off against Santos Escobar for the United States Championship and emerged as the victor. However, their celebration was cut short when Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits attacked them both. On SmackDown LowDown, it was revealed that the LWO would be taking on Lashley and the Profits in an intense 6-man tag-team match at Fastlane. During the October 6 episode of SmackDown, Lashley and Mysterio were having a match when the Street Profits interfered and attacked Del Toro and Wilde. This made them unable to compete at Fastlane. However, at Fastlane, Carlito made a return and teamed up with Mysterio and Escobar. They ended up winning the tag match for the LWO. On the October 20 episode of SmackDown, Logan Paul returned to WWE after his victory over Dillon Danis in a boxing event. He then challenged Mysterio to a United States Championship match at Crown Jewel, which Mysterio accepted. Unfortunately, at the event on November 4, Mysterio lost the title to Paul, who used brass knuckles during the match. This ended Mysterio’s third reign at 85 days. On the next episode of SmackDown, Carlito blamed Escobar for Mysterio’s loss, accusing him of intentionally leaving the brass knuckles in the ring for Paul to use. Later that night, after Carlito lost to Lashley, Escobar attacked Mysterio while he was checking on Carlito. It was later revealed that Mysterio had to undergo surgery for his injured knee and will be out of action for at least six weeks.
